Best Thai restaurant in Melbourne so far, the food is so flavorful, and the staff are friendly. 😋

We went here for Christmas Eve and were lucky to find this restaurant had space for us. I ordered a panang curry with coconut rice and a Thai milk tea. All of it was amazing! A very sweet curry, with a kick of spices which was nicely soothed by the milk tea. I couldn’t finish all of it, so we asked the staff if we could take it home. The lady was so kind as to add some rice for us too! Would definitely come here again.

Used to really enjoy this Thai spot, but on this visit a few dishes felt a bit too sweet. The Kra Ka Pow was quite oily — I get that it’s meant to be rich, but this time it felt a bit overpowering. Rice was cooked well, and the curries still had decent flavour. Overall, still some solid Thai food, but it didn’t quite hit the high notes I remember from past visits.

Food was delicious. Staff were amazing. Ngl, the first time I came here which was ages ago, I wasn’t really impressed but when we went there yesterday for dinner. Everything that we had was delicious and really enjoyed it. We will definitely be coming back for more! Recommendations are the papaya salad, calamari, fish fillet with chilli sauce and kangkung with crispy pork. For dessert we had the specials. I forgot what it’s called but it’s very filling, not too sweet and taste very nice, it’s actually good for sharing.

★★★★★ I had the Massaman Beef Curry, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich, authentic, and reminded me of real Thai street food. The curry had that perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and creaminess. What I loved most is that the food here doesn’t feel like typical restaurant-style Thai, it genuinely tastes like what you’d get from a street vendor in Thailand. Bold, fresh, and full of character. If you’re craving authentic Thai street food, Tom Toon Thai is a must-try. Highly recommended!
