Meung Thai Restaurant & Bar

About
Discovered Meung Thai after they moved to Forest Rd—what a hidden gem! The crispy pork belly platter was spot on, with three tasty sauces. Pineapple fried rice was fragrant, more like yellow curry rice with raisins and cashews. The pork offal soup had silky rice rolls and sweet broth—ask for their chili box! My kid loved the shrimp spring rolls, and even the taro dessert was rich and full of flavor. Drinks were a bit sweet but refreshing. Cozy vibe, photo menu, and generous portions. A must-try

Meung Thai is an absolute gem! Authentic, flavorsome dishes that hit all the right notes — hands down the best Thai in the St. George area. Every meal we’ve had has been consistently delicious, with bold, well-balanced flavours that feel truly traditional. The staff are always warm and welcoming, adding to the inviting atmosphere. Generous portions, great value for money, and top-notch service make Meung Thai our go-to spot. Highly recommended!

I'm a frequent customer at the original store so I was very excited to discover the new restaurant and bar opening right next door. Compared to the original, this store is a bit more expensive but has more of a focus on more premium options (crispy pork and seafood). Desserts and cocktails are also on offer but I didn't try any of these. Service was great and staff seemed to be in a very good mood which is always nice to see. Atmosphere is better than the original as it's a lot less cramped and noisy. We ordered the crispy pork tom yum fried rice, crispy pork pad kee mao and chilli basil crispy pork (yes we like crispy pork). I regularly order both the fried rice and pad kee mao with chicken and pork at the original restaurant so I was keen to see the difference. Servings were no smaller which was great and both dishes tasted very good. The ingredients differed slightly with different peppers, chilli and mushrooms which was nice but the tastes were overall quite similar. Unless I had a particular craving for crispy pork I'm not sure I would choose this over the original which is much cheaper if you choose normal chicken/pork which are both great too. The full serve of chilli basil crispy pork (full serve just meant without rice so it was pure meat and veggies) was amazing. It was a very generous serve and tasted fantastic, I definitely recommend it and would get it again. Overall, I plan to come back but I hope they still keep the original Meung Thai open as I find it much more convenient and affordable but I'm happy to see them expanding and doing well. Looking forward to my next visit! (Sorry about the reflection on the menu photos I tried my best)
If you’re after real Thai food in Hurstville, Meung Thai Restaurant & Bar is the place to go. It’s the sister restaurant of the popular food court stall next door, but now with a proper dine-in experience and even more menu options. Here’s what we ordered: 🐷 Moo Ping – Tender, smoky, and perfectly marinated pork skewers. 🐔 Kao Gai Yang – Grilled chicken with sticky rice, juicy and packed with flavor. 🌶️ Yum Salmon – Spicy, tangy, and super fresh. 🍲 Guay Jub – Comforting, peppery rolled rice noodle soup with tender pork—so satisfying! 🍜 Guay Tiew Tom Yum Noodle Phitsanulok – The broth was rich and full of depth, with the right balance of sour and spicy. Everything was so good, we ended up ordering Kao Yum Gai Saap for takeaway! The owner, Nut, is super welcoming, and you can tell they put a lot of heart into their food. If you love authentic Thai flavors, this spot is a must-try. Can’t wait
Congratulations on the grand opening of the new outlet! I noticed that they recently opened a new shop near the old one by the station, so we decided to check it out. Since it was newly opened, they only had a temporary menu with just the dish names and prices, making it a bit difficult to choose without pictures. The food was absolutely delicious—10/10, highly recommended! However, the drinks and mango sticky rice were just average, and the thai milk tea was that strong. If you’re looking for amazing Thai food, this place is definitely worth a visit!
